For more than 20 years, April has focused her practice on patent matters, including patent litigation, strategic patent counseling and opinions, patent-related due diligence and patent portfolio development in all areas of life sciences. April advises clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical and medical device industries on a variety of intellectual property issues. In particular, she prepares invalidity and non-infringement opinions, undertakes freedom to operate studies, and performs intellectual property due diligence and risk assessment.
April also has significant trial experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical patent litigation and has worked on cases in various federal district courts throughout the United States, and appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Previously, April was in-house counsel at a speciality pharmaceutical company and an AmLaw 100 law firm partner. April is a veteran of the United States Navy (JAG Corps) where she earned multiple achievement medals and letters of commendation for superior service and leadership.
